Jo Russell is an Australian artist residing in the Victorian Alpine High Country within the picturesque Kiewa Valley. Specialising in watercolour and gouache, she has passionately pursued her art for 15 years, drawing inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes that surround her. Whether in her studio or painting en plein air, Jo channels the raw beauty of nature into her work.

 A current member of the Watercolour Society of Victoria. Jo has exhibited at numerous art shows, where her work has captivated audiences.

Her artistic journey has taken her across Australia, traversing the rugged Outback, forests, sweeping deserts, iconic national parks, where she captures the vivid glow of colours and shifting moods of these diverse environments.

Jo applies watercolour to paper, allowing the pigments to dance and merge into unpredictable, mesmerising connections, that echo the delicate granulation of earth, ice and snow. The ever-changing light of the Australian landscape fuels her desire to capture fleeting moments on her palette.

Now with a new studio in Tawonga - Victoria, Jo eagerly invites you to share in her passion at the Alpine Arts Trail Open Studios.
