“Painting allows Kate to make sense of the world, by distilling her observations through simplified and abstracted forms”
Painting allows Kate to make sense of the word by distilling her observations through simplified and abstracted forms.
Kate is not aiming for realism, preferring to focus on shape, space, depth, atmosphere, and colour to evoke an interpretation.
Working in oil, Kate uses the openness and flexibility of this medium to move the paint around and build up layers of colour
Kate prefers to work in the privacy of her studio, with the aim to understand andexplore the materials she uses.
Kate is a tutor of painting at MAMA and offers private classes, and workshops, from her studio at Mountain Arts Contemporary.
